Day 3 (Oean City NJ)

During summer vacation, my family does not travel far distances. Rather we take an hour and a half to two hour drive down to the jersey shore, or more specifically Ocean City New Jersey. My grandparents purchased the shore house in 1997, coincidentally the year I was born. I have been coming to the NJ shore since I was two weeks old and have always enjoyed the time I have there to spend with my mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather, and now my little sister.

Going to the New Jersey shore is a real treat for me and my family. Since I have vacationed there for so many years I have discovered places to definitely try when vacationing along the jersey coastline. Uncle Bill’s is the place to be for breakfast. Established in 1962 in Stone Harbor, NJ, Uncle Bill’s Pancake House has become a part of the shore experience for many families. Based on the principles of good quality food, great service and a clean family-friendly atmosphere, Uncle Bill’s serves up thousands of pancakes per day in the summer. Uncle Bill’s certainly is a place that should not be overlooked during anyone’s trip. My favorite item is number 24. This comes with eggs and bacon prepared as ordered and pancakes. When I order I always get Corncakes instead of normal pancakes. Another restaurant that I truly enjoy is Bushes Seafood. Located in Sea Isle City, Bushes has been in business since 1882. Serving up freshly caught seafood day in and day out. My personal favorite item on the menu is the second combo entre. This comes with deviled crab and flounder with you choice of preparation. Bushes was almost sold last summer, but the deal fell through. Lucky for us they are still in busisness.

Having a 3/ 4 year old girl running amuck can sometimes be a little bit hectic, but when you get to the beach it is great to have someone to interact with until they knock the sand castle down that you were working on for about an hour. Another fun thing to do with a small child or a child of any age is to go to the board walk. Not every shore point has a boardwalk with entertainment, but OC does. OC’s boardwalk has two groupings of amusement rides that could function for children and up. I personally always enjoyed the whipper and so did my little sister. Another fun thing to do down by the seashore is to play miniature golf. Miniature golf is a must do if visiting any shore whether it be in New Jersey or not. I truly enjoy playing the game because it is a fun family oriented activity that allows for some friendly competition. The New Jersey shore is a vacation in itself that is so family oriented that if visiting restaurants or stores of any kind you begin to remember people and remember the good times you had and will have. The more visits, the more memories.
