Walt Disney World was founded on October 1st, 1971 and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011. Walt Disney World was secretly named the Florida project. Walt Disney World originally consists of 30,080-acres of marshland; all this land was mysteriously bought up by a Mr. M. Mouse. Later discovered to be the Mouse that is now a worldwide phenomenon. Unfortunately the creator and founder, Walt Disney, died 5 years prior to the parks official opening, not even one shovel of dirt was removed before his death. Thankfully under Walt Disney’s brother, Roy Disney, Walt Disney World continued on schedule and is now known worldwide as Walt Disney’s greatest achievement. There are four parks in total; the most popular one is Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World was founded in the Magic Kingdom and opened with this park.( go to this link to see live video of the Magic Kingdom: http://www.wdwlive.com/web-cam.html) The second park is Epcot. Epcot opened on October 1st, 1982. Epcot is the combination of two parks, Future World and World Showcase.(click this link to see a commercial for Epcot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr2HqL1Vy9I) The third park is Disney’s MGM Studios now known as Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened on May 1st, 1989 and received the usual Walt Disney World welcome.(click this link to see the commercial for Hollywood studios: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d03lboqhk9c) The last and most recent park to open is Disney’s Animal Kingdom. A trip to Walt Disney World for my family and me during thanksgiving break each year has become a tradition. The first time I went was in the spring of 2001. To be there at the age of 3 ½ for the first time was amazing. Everything seemed to be unreal and magical. With fireworks every night, parades that would make the people that were in them think that there was actually a real dragon running down the streets of Main Street USA, located in the Magic Kingdom. To me being in Walt Disney World is like being a kid in a candy store. There is nothing that I dislike about Walt Disney world or any of the parks.
My most favorite thing to do in Walt Disney World is to pin trade. Disney introduced pin trading into Walt Disney World in 1999. I started trading with my dad the first time and now it has become an addiction for me to pin trade each time we go. Every trip I bring a pin bag filled with incomplete sets, a pin book so I know what to look for, and my Disney “pin” fanny pack to hold the trader pins I need to trade with Disney cast members. My mom and grandmother like me to trade because it gets me out of their hair when they are shopping in stores. Don’t try to follow me in a story because you will never catch up.
